Summerville, SC – A brand new purpose-built truck designed to revolutionise the vocational truck industry and particularly waste collection in North America is making waves among operators.
The ProView has been designed and built by Dennis Eagle Inc to make major improvements to both operational efficiency and safety, and the first trucks are already rolling off the new production line at Summerville, SC.
The vehicle, aimed at the vocational and refuse collection markets, features a low-entry walk-thru cab that can comfortably seat a driver and three crew. It also provides the driver with an unrivalled view of other road users and obstacles around the truck for enhanced safety.
These innovations and more come from Dennis Eagle Inc’s parent company which designs and builds trucks primarily for waste collection in the UK, where it has been the market leader for decades.
Dennis Eagle Inc President Ian Handley said the time was now right to move into the North American market where operators are keen to improve efficiency and safety and reduce the environmental impact.
He explained: “The ProView’s low-entry, walk-thru cab is super-safe. It is accessed by an anti-slip step. The driver can also stand-up and walk thru the cab to the curbside door to avoid exiting into traffic.
“The low driving position, panoramic windshield and larger side and door windows led the cab to be officially rated as having the best driver visibility standard of any truck of any kind in the UK.”
Customers can choose either a Cummins diesel or CNG engine with an Allison gearbox. Both provide high torque at low speeds at a wide range of RPM making them ideal for the stop-start nature of refuse collection in particular. Left-hand drive and dual steer models are both available, and there is also an optional tag axle variant.
Low noise levels, automatic transmission, air conditioning and ergonomic design will help keep drivers and crew happy. And disc brakes on all axles and an Electronic Braking System (EBS) for improved anti-locking make the ProView very safe to drive. The truck also has an unparalled turning circle.
Ian Handley added: “Our network of established dealers covering North America are telling us the ProView has made immediate impact, so we’re delighted. I’m looking forward to meeting more customers in the months ahead.”
