Terberg Techniek, in collaboration with Nijwa Groningen, has delivered a Volvo FM460 10x4WS to Ferro Rent BV.
This vehicle has been converted from an 8x4 to a Wide-Spread 10x4WS, featuring an original Volvo 10-ton pusher axle.
Thanks to these modifications, all axles are optimally utilized, with 4 out of 5 being steerable. The vehicles are equipped with automatic height adjustment, which raises the chassis to driving height above 5 km/h. Because axles 3, 4, and 5 are hydraulically suspended, the full GVW of 50 tons can be utilized. The double-acting hydraulic suspension cylinders are cross-linked, limiting body roll in corners. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with lateral stabilization.
For the Wide-Spread mounted axle, the steering angle is also determined by the vehicle speed. Between 0-25 km/h, the axle steers fully; between 25-40 km/h, the angle is proportionally reduced; and above 40 km/h, the axle does not steer. During maneuvering and reversing, the axle steers normally.
Been Hydrauliek has equipped the vehicle with a Palfinger/Epsilon truck-mounted crane, and Yntema Carrosserie from Heerenveen mounted the body.
